Alright, so not everybody may know what to do when roleplaying, making simple mistakes that are easily fixed. Here you'll find a list of basic rules concerning roleplaying, please abide them, it makes rping more fun, and keeps the creativity flowing.
Third Person As you might know, rping is usually done in third person, using the name of your character in stead of "I" and "Me". So in the case of this account I would use "Sophia" and "Sophia's", in stead of "me" and "mine".

Right:
Tense Another thing that's standard in most roleplays is the tense used. Most of the times this is the past tense, so instead of "have", "go" and "learn" "had", "went" and "learned".
Wrong:
Right:
So if you use the first two rules, that's a great start, but there are some other tiny things.
Godmodding Godmodding is, basically, playing god, perhaps the biggest sin in RPing. It makes an RP less fun, and kills opportunities. In the case of an RP you would be controlling somebody else's character, making them do things that person perhaps wouldn't want to do. As for NPCs, you can't control these either, so if your being sent to Filch by Professor McGonagall, for example, you CAN remember being sent there, but you can't actually have the professor say you had to go there.
Wrong:
See? This wouldn't be RPing, this would be writing a story just by yourself! And isn't RPing like writing a story with a lot of people at once? So it's better to handle this as follows.
Right:
Concerning Speech This is a lesser rule, designed to make it easier for others to see what is done and what is said. Please use, at the very least, speechmarks to indicate speech.

These rules may be altered at any time, without prior notice, so please check them from time to time.
